Topaz Publications inc. was founded by Thomas P. Burke in 1989 and was incorporated in 1992. The original and sustaining concept for the company has been to provide a one-stop service for clients that includes design, writing, editing, artwork, and production for print or electronic delivery. This approach is designed to free the client from the need to manage multiple resources in order to get a project done.

Another founding principle was to employ technical writers who are truly technical. All of our writing staff have backgrounds as technicians and instructors in the installation and maintenance of complex systems in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Electronics
- Electromechanical
- Hydraulic
- Pneumatic
- Industrial process
We developed many of Carrier Corporation’s print, video, and CD-based training programs. The textbooks and web-based training materials we produce for NCCER and Prentice Hall are used to train industrial and construction workers in contractor schools and technical colleges all over the United States.
