MILSPEC BACKGROUND
Topaz employees have an extensive background in developing technical manuals and training program for defense systems. They are familiar with the intricacies of working with government specifications and standards, as well as contract practices.
- Tom Burke spent many years in defense electronics systems work, dating back to his stint as an instructor on airborne radar systems. As a technical writer and instructional designer, Tom’s experience spans a multitude of weapons systems, including surface and submarine sonar, ground radar, fire control, armored vehicles, and missile systems, such foundational programs as Titan, Patriot, Trident, Aegis, Seawolf, and Bradley Fighting Vehicle, among others. Before starting his own business, he served as a manager of technical documentation and training programs in GE’s defense business.
- Veronica Wesfall worked as a contract writer and editor on a number of radar programs, including GE’s FPS-117 and over-the-horizon radar. She also served as her employer’s security officer.
- Gerry Shannon spent many years as a technical writer and technical documentation project manager on battle tanks, missile defense systems, and ground radar systems. He is known for his ability to work with complex technical subjects.
- Roy Parker is an Air Force retiree whose Air Force experience included radar technician, instructor, technical writer, instructional designer, and tech school director. His civilian experience includes industrial systems, power generation systems, and manufacturing process/procedure documentation. His experience in industrial technology includes electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
